The College of Charleston School of Business has added six new members to the board of governors to maintain connections between the school and business community, the college said in a news release.

The School of Business is calling these particular board members the “Super Six” because of the breadth of their professional credentials and industry experience.

The formal nomination and governance process requires a commitment from each prospective member to be actively engaged as a working board member for three years, said Sandy Krezmien-Funk, director of external relations and marketing. The board has 52 members, which includes an executive committee of nine members and the chairman.

“There’s not a lot of room for those who show up once or twice a year,” she said. “The leadership with Buddy Darby as chair and Alan Shao as school dean has really bolstered the energy behind the board.”

The board of governors advises Shao by offering insight from the business community and strategic ideas for the School of Business, the college said.

New members include:

“These business leaders are an impressive slate of new additions to our board,” said Darby, CEO of Kiawah Development Partners, in the news release. “Their combined experiences will bring creative perspectives to the board and dynamic opportunities for the business students. I look forward to working with them to help meet the interests of the business school.”
