South Carolinians from across the state joined together in Charleston last week to celebrate the South Carolina-Israel Collaboration.

Namely, the group honored its chairman, Jonathan Zucker, for his work from the collaboration’s inception until today.

“The accomplishments of this collaboration over the course of just three years are unprecedented in our organization’s history. And there is no doubt that without Jonathan’s passionate support and leadership, none of this would have been possible,” said Shai Robkin, president and CEO of the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce, in a statement.

The South Carolina-Israel Collaboration is an initiative of the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce.

Zucker is president of InterTech Group, a family-owned holding company based in Charleston, and has looked for ways to involve his company with business partnerships with Israel.

For the third year, the collaboration brought to Israel a delegation of South Carolina businessmen, economic development professionals and academics. They met researchers and business leaders in Israel and led seminars at the Globes Israel Business Conference.

In October, South Carolina became the first southeastern state to sign a collaborative research and development funding agreement with Israel.
